Thailand is the most popular first international trip for Indian travellers: short flights, good food, easy hotels and a mix of city, shows and beaches in one holiday. This guide gives a simple 5 and 6 night plan, what you need for entry, the best time to go and a clear idea of cost.
Best Time to Visit Thailand
November to February is the best time, with dry, pleasant weather across Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Krabi. March to May is hot. June to October is the rainy season on the Andaman side (Phuket and Krabi), when sea trips can be cancelled on rough days; Koh Samui stays drier until about October.
Visa and Entry for Indians
Indian passport holders can currently visit Thailand for tourism without a visa for a short stay. Thailand has changed the allowed number of days more than once, so check the latest rule on the official Thai government website before you book. Every traveller must also fill the online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 3 days before arrival. Carry a passport valid for at least 6 months, your return ticket and your hotel booking.
How to Reach Thailand
Direct flights to Bangkok run from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and several other cities. Phuket and Krabi have direct flights from some Indian cities; otherwise connect via Bangkok. Our packages include airport pickup and drop in Thailand; international flights are booked separately.

Pattaya, Phuket or Krabi
Pattaya is closest to Bangkok and suits a short first trip with shows and Coral Island. Phuket has the most choice of hotels, nightlife and island tours to Phi Phi. Krabi is calmer, with limestone cliffs, Railay Beach and the 4 islands tour, and suits couples. Chiang Mai in the north is for temples, night markets and hills.
Tips for a Smooth Thailand Trip
Fill the TDAC online a day or two before you fly and keep the confirmation on your phone. Carry some Thai baht for local taxis and markets. Dress modestly at temples, with shoulders and knees covered. Vegetarian and Indian food is easy to find in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. Take travel insurance for sea trips and adventure activities.
Final Word
Five or six nights is the right length for a first Thailand trip: Pattaya and Bangkok for a city and shows break, or add Phuket or Krabi for beaches. Tell us your dates, city and group size, and we will send two or three plans with hotel names and the exact price on WhatsApp.
