Best time to visit Gulmarg

December to March for snow and skiing, April to June for green meadows and pleasant days, and September to November for clear views. Heavy snowfall can close the road or the Gondola's upper phase for a day or two in winter.

How to reach Gulmarg

Gulmarg is about 50 km from Srinagar, around 1.5 to 2 hours by road via Tangmarg. Fly or take the train to Srinagar and our cab drives you up.

Places to see in Gulmarg

Gulmarg Gondola: Phase 1 goes to Kongdoori, and Phase 2 continues to Apharwat at nearly 4,000 metres when the weather allows.
Snow slopes: Sledging, skiing lessons and snow play from December to March.
Gulmarg golf course: One of the highest golf courses in the world, green from late spring.
St Mary's Church: A small 1902 church set against the meadows.
Strawberry Valley: A quiet valley near the town, best in summer.
Tangmarg and Drang: Pine forests and a frozen waterfall in deep winter on the way up.

How many days do I need for Gulmarg?

One night in Gulmarg is enough for the Gondola and snow, with two or three nights in Srinagar. Skiers usually stay longer.

When is snow guaranteed in Gulmarg?

Snow is most reliable from late December to early March.

Is the Gulmarg Gondola included?

No. Gondola tickets are paid separately and are best booked online in advance.

Can I do Gulmarg as a day trip from Srinagar?

Yes. Many of our packages visit Gulmarg as a day trip and return to Srinagar the same evening.

Is skiing possible for beginners?

Yes. Gulmarg has beginner slopes and local instructors; equipment can be rented there.
