Spiti is the high cold desert of Himachal: Key and Tabo monasteries, the fossil village of Langza, Hikkim with one of the world's highest post offices, and on the summer route the moon-shaped lake of Chandratal. It is a road trip, and the road is half the experience.

Our Spiti trips follow the Shimla–Kinnaur side, which lets you acclimatise slowly, and include hotels and homestays, breakfast and dinner, and a private cab with a driver who has done the route many times. Pickup is from Delhi or Chandigarh.
June to October is the season, when both the Kinnaur and Manali–Kunzum routes are usually open. The Kinnaur route stays open for most of the year, but winter trips are only for travellers ready for very cold weather.
Kaza, the main town, is about 420 km from Shimla through Kinnaur and about 200 km from Manali over the Kunzum Pass. A full circuit from Delhi or Chandigarh needs at least 7 nights so your body can adjust to the altitude.
Good to know: Spiti is above 3,500 metres. Keep the first days slow, drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol for the first two nights. Our plan goes up through Kinnaur for this reason.

Seven nights from Delhi or Chandigarh is the minimum for a safe round trip through Kinnaur and Kaza. Eight to nine nights is more relaxed.
Yes, for healthy travellers who take the altitude seriously. We do not suggest Spiti for infants or people with heart or breathing problems without a doctor's advice.
Indian citizens do not need a permit. Foreign nationals need an Inner Line Permit for the area near the border, which we help arrange.
BSNL and Jio work in Kaza and some villages; large stretches have no signal. Hotels in Kaza usually have Wi-Fi.
The cab trip is more comfortable. The Volvo and cab option uses an overnight bus for the first leg to keep the price down.
Spiti Valley packages start from ₹17,999 per person on double sharing, with 3 trips to choose from. The final price depends on dates, hotel category and group size.
