Best time to visit Pahalgam

April to June and September to November are best, with green valleys and pleasant days. Winters are snowy and very cold, and some valleys are not reachable after heavy snow.

How to reach Pahalgam

Pahalgam is about 95 km from Srinagar, around 2.5 to 3 hours by road, passing the Pampore saffron fields and the Avantipora ruins on the way.

Places to see in Pahalgam

Betaab Valley: A green valley with a stream, about 15 km from Pahalgam.
Aru Valley: Meadows and a small village, about 12 km from Pahalgam, starting point for treks.
Chandanwari: A snow point in early summer and the start of the Amarnath Yatra route.
Lidder river: Riverside walks and picnic spots right in the town.
Pampore saffron fields: Saffron country on the Srinagar road, in flower around late October and November.
Avantipora ruins: Stone temple ruins from the 9th century on the way to Pahalgam.

Good to know: Private cabs are not allowed to Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari; you use the local union taxi there, paid locally. Some spots open or close depending on local advisories, and we check the current status before your trip.

Yes. It is green, calm and has easy riverside walks and pony rides for children.

Can I visit Pahalgam in winter?

Yes, but it is very cold and some valleys may be closed by snow. Gulmarg is the better choice for winter snow.
